Telangana logs 364 new COVID-19 cases, two fatalities until Friday night

Continuing the daily surge of infections, Telangana recorded 364 fresh Coronavirus cases until 2000 hours on Friday taking the total COVID-19 cumulative count to 3,02,724 till date.

The cumulative fatality toll rose to 1,666 after two people died of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours translating a case fatality rate of 0.55 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.4 per cent, according to a state health department bulletin here on Saturday.

As many as 189 people have recovered from coronavirus statewide during the above period taking the overall recoveries in the state so far to 2,98,451 constituting a recovery rate of 98.58 per cent while the National recovery rate was 96.1 per cent.

Currently, the number of active cases in the state stand at 2,607 including 980 individuals in home or institutional isolation, the bulletin said.

Abut 66,086 swab samples were tested in the state to detect the contagious virus and out of which the reports of 698 swab samples are awaited.

Cumulatively, more than 95.48 lakh COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state so far since the outbreak of Coronavirus.

As usual, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) remained the top contributor of the infection, which reported a maximum of 75 fresh Coronavirus cases followed by Medchal Malkajgiri district (32), Rangareddy district (31) and Jagtiyal district (28).

The remaining new Coronavirus cases have been reported by other districts, the bulletin added.
