Shimla, Nov 22(UNI) Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Sunday presided over a meeting of the district level officers at Mandi to review the COVID situation in the district.
The Chief Minister said that keeping in view the upsurge in the COVID cases in the state, the government would consider the imposition of a few restrictions to prevent social gatherings and ensuring that people take all the necessary precautionary measures.
He also pointed out the importance of regularly monitoring the patients who are kept in home isolation as their numbers is much more than those admitted in hospitals.
He directed to ensure checking of fever and oxygen level of such patients besides educating them to take their medicines in a proper manner.
Thakur also stressed on the need to serve these patients hot food and water so that their condition does not deteriorate further due to the cold.
Jai Ram Thakur said the health authorities should make efforts to motivate the attendants to attend their patients admitted in the hospitals by providing PPE kits to make patients feel better.
He stressed on the need that COVID patients should be referred to major hospitals at the early stage so as to increase their chances of survival and quiker recovery is ensured. He said that the authorities should ensure that the dead bodies of those who died due to COVID should be handed over to their family members at the earliest in order to spare them any more anguish.
During the presentation in the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Rugved Thakur informed that 47,935 samples have been taken for COVID testing so far in the district and in total 5,390 person have tested positive so far.
There are presently 1,178 active cases in the district and 4,147 have been cured, while the fatality rate is 1.22 percent. In the district, 37 percent cases of COVID are from urban areas while 62 percent are from rural areas. In all, 66 deaths have been reported in the district so far. The maximum cases have been found in Pandoh Gram Panchayat where 199 positive cases have been reported.
A presentation was also made by the health department in which it was informed that PCR testing is being done at Medical College Ner Chowk.
The Chief Medical Officer Devender Sharma said that medical kits are being provided to the patients kept in district level Covid Care centres and home isolation and they are also being given healthy food. He said that the district has adequate supply of PPE kits, masks and sanitizers.
Principal of Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Govt Medical College Ner Chowk RC Thakur in his presentation informed that the hospital has a facility of 118 dedicated beds for serious COVID patients and dialysis facility has also been started for them, which has helped in saving lives of over 70 percent of the patients. The hospital is also providing round the clock emergency service besides e-OPD service on regular basis.
He said that the strength of doctors and other staff members has been enhanced for ensuring proper treatment of COVID patients.
