HPCA rout Bihar by 181 runs and UTCA thrash Baroda XI by 7 wkts

Mohali, Sep 6 : Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association outplayed Bihar Xi by 181 runs and Union Territory Cricket Association of Chandigarh handed out a seven-wicket thrashing to Baroda XI in the 26th All india J.P Atray Memorial Cricket tournament for Trident Cup here today.
Winning the toss Bihar opted to field and their decision boomeranged as HPCA plundered 304 runs for 7 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. HPCA were well served by Ekant Sen (40 off 56 balls with 5 boundaries), Digvijay Rangi (66 off 86 with 4 boundaries and two sixes), Akash Vashisht unbeaten( 42 off 30 balls with 4 boundaries and two sixes) and Ayush Jamwal (unbeaten 22 off 11 balls with one boundary and two sixes).
Ekant Sen and Digvijay Rangi put on 62 runs for 3rd wicket while Ankit Kalsi and Digvijay Rangi added 67 runs for the fourth wicket. For Bihar XI Mangal Mahrour (2 for 34) and Sasheem Rathour (3 for 80) were the main wicket takers.
Replying, Bihar XI were bundled out for 123 in 35.5 overs. Sasheem Rathour (27 off 376 balls with 3 boundaries) and Mangal Mahrour (24 off 44 balls with 2 boundaries) were the principal run getters for Bihar XI.
Left Arm Spinner Akash Vashisht bowled a incisive spell off spin bowling claiming 5 wickets for 38. He was named Trident Man of the match for his all round display of unbeaten 42 and a scalp of 5 wickets. The Man of the Match award was given by Capt. Sushil Kapoor, Organising Secretary. HPCA garnered for points while Bihar XI got zero.
In the second match played at Mahajan Cricket Ground Chandigarh, UTCA Chandigarh got the better of Baroda Cricket Association by seven wickets to garner four points while Baroda C.A. got zero.
Baroda won the toss and opted to bat. They were bowled out for 217 in 48.5 overs. Their innings was bolstered by Parth Kohli (77 off 87 balls inclusive of 4 boundarie and 5 lofty sixes). Another notable contribution came from Prikshit Pattidar (31 off 44 balls with 2 boundarie)s. For UTCA the bowling honours were shared by Arpit Singh (3 for 48), Bhagmender Singh (2 for 21) and Jagjit Singh Sandhu (2 for 52).
Replying, UTCA scored 221 for 3 in 45.3 overs to record a seven- wicket win. Their win was engineered by opener Taranpreet Singh (72 off 93 balls with 7 boudaries and 2 sixs) and Kunal Mahajan (32 off 37 balls with 5 boundaries).
The innings was further bolstered by an unbroken partnership of 78 runs between Amit Lubhana unbeaten (57 off 72 balls with 2 boundaries and 2 sixes ) and Arjit Singh unbeaten( 39 off 53 balls with one boundary and 2 sixes).
For Baroda Mohit Mongia (2 for 42) was the most successful bowler. Taranpreet Singh of UTCA was given the Trident Man of the Match Award for his brilliant batting display. award was given by Subhash Mahajan, former Honorary Secretary, UTCA and Haryana Ranji Trophy player.
