Products of SHGs to be sold in HP through post offices : DC

Products prepared by the Self-help groups of women in the state would be sold through the Post offices in the state so that they were easily available to the people.
This information as given by Deputy Commissioner, Debasweta Banik here today after inaugurating the district’s first Mahila Shakti Kendra was set up under Himachal Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission to increase the income of self-help groups today.
She said that a counter had been set up in the main post office premises for the sale of products of the Self Help Groups formed under the Rural Development Department. She said that women’s power counters were being opened only with the joint efforts of the State Rural Development Mission and the Department of Posts.
She said that due to the daily movement of people in the main post offices, the sale of products of SHGs would increase and the people would be able to get items of their daily needs.
It’s worth mentioning here that in the Mahila Shakti Kendras, traditional food items such as sheera, vermicelli, badian, sweets made of papaya and bottle gourd were prepared by the self-help groups along with jute bags, bamboo decorative items, rakhis, and other locally made items.
