SKUAST-Jammu, March 3-4, 2022:

A 2 day skill development training programme was conducted at Sher-e-Kashmir university of Agricultural sciences & Technology- Jammu on March 3-4, 2022 by Fisheries Unit, Faculty of Agriculture under overall guidance of Prof J. P. Sharma, Honorable Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu. The participants working in different stations of Fisheries department were invited for the program who were updated about the latest technological advancements in fishery sciences. Training on “Advances in Fish Disease Diagnostics and Management” demonstrated recent advancements relevant to local conditions. Present status and Impact of Fish diseases on Aquaculture, Common fish diseases and health management in Jammu region, Viral diseases in fish and Shrimps, Water quality management in aqua culture, Role of stress in Fish diseases, Bacterial fish born Diseases of Public Health Importance, Health management practices in prevention of the disease for profitable fish farming, Viral fish born diseases of public health importance were discussed elaborately.

Moreover, Practical hands on training on isolation and characterization of fish born microbes and haematological techniques in fish were conducted. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Pradeep wali, Director Research, SKUAST-Jammu. While inaugurating the programme, he opined that this kind of hands-on training will be beneficial to the participants working in various Fisheries Department. Dr. Bikram Singh, Dean, FoA, Chatha appreciated the efforts of Fisheries Unit for conducting this program which will ensure further updating the officers with recent techniques. Dr. M. S. Bhadwal, Dean, F.V.Sc. & A.H. distributed certificates among the participants who completed the training. Dr. Sahar Masud, In-charge of Fisheries Unit briefed about the importance of the training topics in present scenario.
