Agri-Business Incubator, SKUAST-Jammu organizes webinar on Cloud Computing

Agri-Business Incubator, SKUAST-J, a unit of Division of Agricultural Economics & ABM, sponsored by MoA & FW in collaboration with NAHEP-IDP SKUAST-Jammu and under the guidance of Prof. J P Sharma, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, organized a webinar for budding entrepreneurs, students and faculty members on “Cloud Computing for Agri-Business.” The session was delivered by Mr. Aditya Kachroo, Cloud Consultant, CEVO Australia. He explained the basic concepts of cloud computing to the participants and how it is changing the modern technology based businesses. He also talked about the traditional data hosting methods and how cloud computing has a distinct edge over them. He listed the main advantages of cloud computing over other methods. He also informed about the top players in the market in this field along-with the entry methods to initiate the process of hosting through cloud computing. After the lecture the speaker interacted with the students and faculty members and answered their doubts and queries. The session was a part of series of lectures being conducted at ABI, SKUAST-J for training of budding entrepreneurs under the RKVY-RAFTAAR Project in order to acquaint them with critical business insights, skills, techniques and best practices prevalent in the competitive business world. These sessions aim to enable the entrepreneurs to refine and polish their innovative agri-business ideas and assimilate their learning into their business plans so as to make them more market and customer centric. ABI, SKUAST-Jammu is at the forefront of developing, nurturing and mentoring young agri-business professionals and has already trained and incubated 3 batches of innovative agri-entrepreneurs comprising of 32 incubates.

The webinar was attended by more than 75 participants comprising of both students and faculty members of SKUAST Jammu along-with budding entrepreneurs from all around the country. Prof. Jyoti Kachroo, Director P&M, Head AEABM, P.I, RKVY-RAFTAAR Project, Prof. B C Sharma, PI of IDP-NAHEP & Head, Agronomy, Prof. Sanjay Guleria, Head, Biochemistry and Prof.Vikas Sharma, Assoc. Coordinator, IDP-NAHEP & Head Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry also participated in the lecture. Dr. S.P Singh, Asstt. Prof. AEABM, Dr. Anil Bhat, Asstt. Prof. AEABM, Dr. Yamini Raut, Asstt. Manager and Mr. Tarunjeet Singh, Bus. Exec. RKVY-RAFTAAR project were also present. Dr. Malika Sharma, Ms. Sabbey Sharma and Dr. Lata Raj from Division of AEABM also attended the session.
