Amarnath Yatra will boost J&K economy

Srinagar, The Amarnath Yatra will boost the economy of Jammu and Kashmir as six to eight lakh devotees are expected to undertake this year’s pilgrimage, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir P K Pole said on Tuesday.
He said the Yatra is not mere a pilgrimage but a major economic push to the state’s economy as the government expects to earn Rs 2,000-3,000 crore revenue from the pilgrims who also visit tourist destinations, Pole told reporters at Anantnag.
“Each pilgrim stays in Kashmir for a week and spends at least Rs 35,000 and visits other tourist destinations as well,” he said.
The 43-day pilgrimage will start on June 30 and end on August 11.
