Centre for Organic and Natural Farming (CONF), SKUAST-Jammu celebrated
Teacher’s Day on 5 th September, 2023. Prof. Parshant Bakshi, Head, CONF and
Head, Fruit Science, SKUAST-J involved all the PG and Ph.D students, faculty
members of Division of Fruit Science and Organic Farming in an innovative
way of Celebration of Teachers day by planting fruit plant at Centre for Organic
and Natural Farming, Chatha SKUAST-Jammu and motivated them to take care
of these Dragon plants. The event was graced by Dr R.K.Samnotra, Director
Research of the University.
On this occasion, Director Research addressed the gathering and shared his
ideas of a good teacher. He urged the students to live a disciplined life with high
moral values. In his address, he stressed upon three Cs ‘Collective-
Collaborative-Contribution and advised the students to pay respect to their
teachers through their deeds and work collectively for nation building. He
advised the students to know about the past history for carving a better future
and also put forth the idea of One Earth, One family, One future. The
programme was attended by more than 30 students and teachers from the
Division of Fruit Science and the Centre.
On this occasion, 60 plants of dragon fruit were planted in the experimental
farm of the Centre. The students also appreciated this and were very excited
while planting the dragon plant by them.
The faculty members present were Dr. Amit Jasrotia, Dr. S.K.Singh, Dr. Satesh
Kumar, Dr. Arti Sharma, Dr Kiran Kour, Dr Deepji Bhat, Dr Rakesh Kumar,
Dr. A.P.Rai, Dr. Balbir Dhotra, and non teaching staff including Neharika
Pandita, Kritika, Niraj Manhas, Mohd, Sadiq, Vinod Kumar Bhat.
In his concluding remarks, Dr Parshant Bakshi, Head of the Centre thanked
Chief guest, all the faculty members and students to join in this plantation drive
and celebrating teachers day in an innovative way.
