Bagga’s arrest illegal, says BJP

New Delhi, May 6 : BJP on Friday slammed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over the arrest of party leader Tejinder Pal Singh Bagga, and called his arrest illegal. As the drama around Bagga’s arrest from his Delhi residence continued, BJP leaders including Manjinder Singh Sirsa, RP Singh, and Nupur Sharma held a press conference at the party headquarter here, and said the arrest was ‘illegal’. “Tejinder Pal Singh Bagga has been illegally arrested. His father was taken to a separate room and punched… Delhi Police has also registered a case of abduction,” BJP Spokesperson Nupur Sharma said. Party leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa slammed the Punjab police for arresting him without even allowing him to wear his turban. He also said comments on the issue coming from Delhi AAP leaders proved Punjab government is being run by Kejriwal. “Punjab Home Minister, MLA, Police, no one said anything. Delhi MLA is holding a press conference, it proves that Kejriwal is in control of Punjab,” Sirsa said. “The Sikh chief minister of a Sikh state insured a Sikh and took him without even allowing him to wear his turban…” he said. Punjab Police arrested Bagga from his residence in Delhi on Friday morning after an FIR was registered against him and some other unidentified persons under sections 153-A, 505, 505(2) and 506 of the IPC at the Cyber Crime police station in Mohali after a complaint filed by AAP Punjab spokesperson Dr Sunny Singh Ahluwalia. In his complaint, the AAP leader said Bagga’s comments amounted to criminal intimidation to cause violence and hurt to party leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other AAP leaders.
