Baramulla cloud burst; Body of octogenarian recovered, toll five

Baramulla, Sep 13 : Body of an octogenarian, who was missing since Sunday after a cloud burst in this north Kashmir district which left four members of Bakerwal family dead, was recovered on Monday.

Official sources said that six members of a Bakerwal family were washed away after a cloudburst took place in the upper belt of Dangiwacha at Hamam Marcoot under the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Dagiwacha Sopore during the intervening night of September 11 and 12.
The joint rescue team of SDRF and police managed to recover four bodies, that of Shahnaza Begum (30) wife of Mohammad Farooq, her daughter Naziya Akhter (14), son Mohammad Tariq Khari (8) and Arif Hussain Khari (5), all residents of Kalsiyan Nowshera Rajouri in Jammu division on Sunday. A woman identified as Naseema Begum (30) who was injured was also rescued and admitted to the hospital. She is the only family member to survive the cloudburst.
Mohammad Baashir Khari (80) who went missing after the cloud burst on Sunday was found dead today. His body has been recovered and rescue operation have ended, they said.
Meanwhile, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha in a tweet said “Anguished to learn about the loss of 4 precious lives due to flash floods triggered by cloudburst in Baramulla district. My condolences to the bereaved family & prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured. The government will ensure all the assistance to the family”.
