Meets transporters deputation, takes up taxi union issue with DC Jammu for holding due elections

JAMMU: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta on Wednesday said that the BJP government led by PM Narendra Modi is committed to promote tourism in a precise manner by bringing new ideas in the sector and through extreme levels of dedication by the stakeholders.
He said that the new dimensions which have been added to promote tourism in J&K are unprecedented and the same have already started bearing fruits by tourists thronging the new destinations in large numbers. “The retreat ceremony at Suchetgarh border along with musical fountain in Bagh-e-Bahu is just the tip of an iceberg as far as tourism promotion in Jammu region is concerned because soon the Jammu Tawi Artificial Lake will start attracting more and more tourists as things are rolling fast”, Kavinder said, adding that those associated with this sector should make it a point that they showcase hospitality and warmth to the visiting tourists to flourish this sector in the region as never before.
The former Deputy Chief Minister was interacting with a delegation of All J&K Transporters Welfare Association who met him at his residence to project issues and demands. The delegation said that the members have been confronting many problems for the last more than two years.
They said that the election of their association is overdue and this has caused a lot of troubles to the taxi operator fraternity.
After assessing the situation, Kavinder rang up Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Anshul Garg, as he is responsible for the election of the taxi union, and put forth the demand of taxi operators.
After discussing the matter, the DC assured that he will take up the matter with RTO Jammu as the aforesaid election is prerogative of both DC Jammu and RTO Jammu.
After getting satisfied by the response of DC Jammu, the BJP stalwart leader informed the delegation that soon the aforesaid election will be held and the long pending demand of the taxi operators will be fulfilled. He also appreciated the role of taxi operators in promotion of tourism in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
Kavinder said he is aware of hardships being faced by taxi operators in J&K due to outbreak of Covid pandemic. He said that Modi Government committed for development as well as promotion of tourism of Jammu and Kashmir as well as people associated with this sector.
Getting the favourable response, the delegation members applauded the senior BJP leader for showing promptness in resolving their issue.
