Centre approves Rs 20.67 cr financial assistance to Haryana for Khelo India

Chandigarh, May 21 (UNI) The Central Government has approved financial assistance of Rs 20.67 crore for the fourth edition of Khelo India Games to be held from November 21 to December 5, 2021 in Haryana.
Giving this information on Friday, Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs Sandeep Singh said that there will be an agreement between the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Haryana Government for organizing the Games, in which the rules and responsibilities of the SAI and Haryana Government on the Games will be discussed.
He informed that this is the fourth edition of Khelo India Youth Games to be held in Panchkula, which is a national level sports competition of its kind. This competition brings out the best young sports stars from every corner of the country. Athletes selected under Khelo India are awarded an annual scholarship of Rs 6.28 lakhs, which includes an out-of-pocket allowance of Rs 10,000 per month.
He further informed that the main objective of the Khelo India Games is to build and strengthen the sports ecosystem throughout India so that more and more players can win medals in the upcoming Olympic Games.
The MoS said that the objective of these games is to promote sports across the country and to discover and mould new talent. With this event, the players of the state will get an opportunity to show their talent.
He said that there is great enthusiasm among the players regarding this event since preparations for the fourth edition of the Games India Youth Games -2021 have been started and the state government is making efforts to make the event a big success.
Work related to Khelo India Youth Games is being completed at a fast pace under the leadership of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and all the officers of the Sports Department are engaged in completing the preparations on time, he informed.
Mr Sandeep Singh said that under the ‘Khelo India’ programme, Haryana has always performed well and it is expected that the players of the state will continue to perform well.
