Visakhapatnam, Nov 25 : A Circle Inspector was killed and his driver injured when the vehicle in which they were travelling was hit by an unidentified vehicle at Yendada, on the outskirts of the city early on Thursday.
The three-town CI, identified as Eswara Rao, was 58 and is survived by his wife, daughter and a son.
The incident occurred at 0330 hours, when the Circle Inspector was proceeding to his house after completing work, according to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Ch. Adinarayana.
He died on the spot while the driver Santosh, who received injuries, was shifted to a hospital, Mr Adinarayana said.
Investigation is underway with the help of CC footage to identify the vehicle involved in the accident, he added.
City police commissioner Manish Kumar Sinha expressed grief over the death of CI.
He visited the deceased house and consoled the family members.
