COVID: Delhi reports 306 fatalities, 26,169 new cases; positivity rate swells to 36.24 pc

New Delhi, Apr 22 (UNI) The National Capital on Thursday recorded the biggest single-day spike of 306 COVID-related fatalities during the past 24 hours, while a massive 26,169 fresh cases were reported in the same period. The new additions took the City’s caseload to 9,56,348 and the death toll to 13,193.

As many as 72,208 people were tested in the past day while 19,609 people were cured and discharged taking the total recoveries to 8,51,537. The positivity rate in Delhi rose to 36.24 per cent, over 5 percent from Wednesday’s 31.28 per cent.

Currently, there are 46,585 COVID patients under home isolation across the city. The number of active cases is 91,618 which includes patients under home isolation. Containment zones also rose to 22,000.

Meanwhile, the government vaccinated 53,673 people in the last 24 hours out of which 38,555 beneficiaries received the first dose while 15,118 were administered the second dose. Till now, cumulatively, 27,76,631 people have received a vaccine jab in the national capital.

The COVID situation in the city has drastically deteriorated in the past few days. On the previous day, the Capital added 24,638 fresh cases while 249 more lives were lost.
