Bhubaneswar, Jun 30 : Odisha reported a record 48 covid deaths in the past 24 hours taking the total fatalities in the state to 4018. Health and family Welfare department sources said all these 48 deaths were reported from 18 districts of the state with Khordha district registering the highest number of seven deaths.
Four each succumbed to the virus in Ganjam and Sundargarh district while three each died in Bargarh, Boudh and Dhenkanal district. Two each died in four other districts and one each in six other districts.
During the past 24 hours,3371 new cases were reported from all the 30 districts and they included 1922 from the quarantine centres and 1449 local contact cases.
Khordha district registered the highest number of 530 covid positive cases followed by Cuttack( 468),Balasore (258),Mayurbhanj(222).
The covid tally with the fresh infections, surged to 9,0,800 while the recoveries jumped to 8,74,307 with 3520 people being cured on Tuesday.
The active cases showed a marginal decline of 31,422 cases compared to 31,619 reported on Tuesday.
At least four districts such as Khordha,Cuttack, Jajpur and Balasore have come under Red Zone with high active cases.Khordha has the highest number of 5203 active cases followed by Cuttack ( 4116), Balasore (2983) and Jajpur (2566).
Five districts in the state have been declared as Orange zone while the rest 21 districts are declared as green Zone.
Official sources said only two districts- Balasore and Malkangiri have the Test Positivity Rate higher than 7.5 per cent while eight districts have the TPR between 5 per cent and 7.5 per cent.
The rest 20 districts have TPR less than 5 per cent of which as many as six districts such as Kalaahndi, Nuapada, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bolangir and Ganjam districts have TPR of less than one per cent.
Meanwhile, as the partial lockdown in the state will be over by 5 AM on July 1 the state government is contemplating extending the partial lockdown in the state with some more restrictions in the districts where the TPR has gone up beyond 5 per cent.
On June 17 last the government announced partial lockdown in the entire state till July 1 with more relaxations in 17 districts, treated as category A where the TPR was less than 5 per cent.
The rest 13 districts, mostly in coastal and northern Odisha were declared as category B districts where the TPR was comparatively high. These districts have less relaxations during the lockdown than the category A districts.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik who reviewed the covid situation in the state on Tuesday has directed the officials to strictly implement the covid appropriate behaviour in the districts having high test positivity rate(TPR).
