Curfew in Delhi from tonight till next Monday morning

New Delhi, Apr 19 (UNI) The Delhi government has decided to impose a complete curfew from tonight to next Monday morning to break the transmission chain of Coronavirus in the national capital.

All private offices will Work From Home and only government offices and essential services will be open, official sources told media.

The decision follows a meeting of Chief Minister Kejriwal and Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal with senior government officers over the alarming rise in Covid-19 in the National Capital.

A weekend curfew along with a 2200 hrs to 0500 hrs restriction is already in place in Delhi till the month-end.

Yesterday, Delhi witnessed the biggest jump in its daily Covid tally with 25,462 fresh cases and a positivity rate of nearly 30 per cent.

Meanwhile, India reported 2,73,810 fresh infections and 1,619 deaths in the past 24 hours, taking the overall caseload to 1.5 crores, Union Health Ministry data said.

With this, the overall death toll has surged to 1,78,769, active cases to 19,29,329 and recoveries to 1,29,53,821.

This is the fifth straight day that over 2 lakh infections were reported and the sixth consecutive day to record over a thousand deaths.
