Delhi clocks record single day spike of 7,178 new COVID cases

New Delhi, Nov 6 (UNI) The national capital on Friday registered a record breaking single day spike of 7,178 fresh COVID infections during the past 24 hours, the state health bulletin said here.

The city’s overall case tally has now reached 4,23,831, while the fatality count has now mounted to 6,833 after 64 more people lost their lives to the highly contagious virus in the same period.

Active case-load on the city also increased by 993 since Thursday, and now the city is home to 39,722 active cases. Meanwhile, 6,121 patients were cured since Thursday, taking the total number of COVID survivors across the city till date to 3,77,276.

Patients under home isolation also witnessed a spike of 268 since the past one day and presently stand at 23,679, while the containment zones across the city now are 3,754 as on Friday.

Fatality rate due to the pandemic based on past ten days data is 0.80 per cent, the bulletin added.

Delhi, till now, has tested 49,91,587 lakh people.
