Delhi records sharp spike of 3,609 new COVID cases, recovery rate 86.30 pc

New Delhi, Sep 8 (UNI) The national capital on Tuesday registered a sharp spike of 3,609 fresh COVID-19 cases, while 19 more people lost their lives during the past 24 hours, the state health bulletin said here. City’s overall tally has now moved more close to the 2 lakh mark with the figure now standing at 1,97,135, while the fatality count so far has reached 4,618.

Meanwhile, the city has recorded 1,756 cured /discharged patients since Monday, pushing the total recovries in the city to 1,70,140. Till date, the highest single-day spike in Delhi has been of 3,947 cases, clocked on June 23.

The recovery rate presently stands at 86.30 per cent, which was 87 per cent on Monday. Active case load on the city has increased by 1834 cases , and presently there are 22,377 active cases in the city.

Patients under home isolation have also increased by 129 , and the figure stands at 11,742. Containment zones across the city have also spiked to 1,166 , the state health bulletin said.
