Foggy, cold weather in Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 25 (UNI) The national capital on Monday witnessed a cold and foggy weather, reducing the visibility to 500 meters. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), visibility of 500 meters was reported at Safdarjung and Palam at 05:30 hrs.

The minimum temperature recorded at Palam and Safdarjung weather stations were 9.8 and 8.8 degrees Celsius, respectively. Meanwhile, Delhi’s overall air quality stands in the ‘very poor’ category, according to the System of Air Quality & Weather Forecasting & Research (SAFAR).

The overall Delhi air quality is in the ‘very poor’ category as forecasted. Surface winds west-northwesterly and moderate, the temperature is likely to decrease due to cold dry northwesterly winds. No significant change is ventilation index is forecasted for the next three days, Air Quality Index (AQI) is likely to stay in the middle-end of Very Poor on 26th , 27th and 28th January, SAFAR said in its forecast.

On Sunday too, Delhi’s overall air quality was in the ‘very poor’ category.
