New Delhi, Sep 28 (UNI) Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Harsh Vardhan distributed masks and soap among a large number of people at Azadpur vegetable market on Monday morning and said Coronavirus (Covid-19) was spreading due to the negligence of the people.
During the event organised in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society and APMC Azadpur, Dr Harsh Vardhan gave a lot of information to the people about prevention of Coronavirus. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Keshav Puram district president Rajkumar Bhatia was also present on the occasion.
The minister said Covid-19 is spreading only due to the negligence of the people. He said the virus does not reach anyone on its own, but it infects people not wearing masks, not washing their hands frequently and not keeping a safe distance from each other. It is imperative to follow ‘Corona proper etiquette’ to avoid this. This means that the virus infects people through human carelessness and irresponsible behaviour.
He said it is possible to avoid Corona with these simple precautions. He appealed to the people not to be careless and follow simple measures to protect themselves, their family and those around them from the Coronavirus. Also, he urged those who do not wear masks to use masks. “Take special care of children, the elderly and sick members in your family,” he urged.
He said the mouth and nose should be covered while wearing the mask. Failure to do so poses a risk of infection.
He also said that only a namaste for greeting was sufficient as shaking hands can be dangerous.
Dr Harsh Vardhan warned that if the used mask is not disposed of properly, there is a risk of infection. He said
after removing the mask, any person should avoid touching the eyes and nose with his hand.
He advised people to avoid going to crowded places and keeping a distance of two yards between themselves if
necessary, adding “Prevention of Corona is very easy, but it requires adherence to ‘Corona proper behavior’. He also said when coughing and sneezing, keep your arms in front of your mouth so that the virus does not spread.
