HC nixes plea against Delhi Food and Supplies Min alleging hoarding of O2 cylinders

New Delhi, May 13 (UNI) The Delhi High Court on Thursday dismissed the plea alleging hoarding of oxygen cylinders by Food and Supplies Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Imran Hussain after verification of documents.

A bench of justices Vipin Sanghi and Rekha Palli dismissed the petition and said that it is not inclined to proceed any further.

The court was hearing a plea to stop the alleged ‘unauthorised, unlawful, and arbitrary distribution’ of oxygen cylinders by Hussain in his constituency Ballimaran.

The amicus curiae assisting the court in the Covid-19 related pleas, senior counsel Rajshekhar Rao conducted an inquiry into the incident and has submitted that documents supported the MLA’s claim that he bought the oxygen from Faridabad for distribution among the needy.

Senior advocate Rahul Mehra, appearing for the Delhi government, told the court that oxygen was not procured from Delhi and prayed the court to discourage such pleas.

He said that due to this plea the Minister’s reputation was adversely affected and all his efforts brought to naught.
