Heavy rains predicted in south, thunderstorm very likely over north India

Pune, Jan 5 (UNI) During next 24 hours, heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over Punjab, south coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
Similarly, heavy rain or snow very likely at isolated places over Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh.
Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and hail very likely at isolated places over Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, west Uttar Pradesh, south Konkan, Goa, south Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, coastal and south interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep.
Cold waves very likely in isolated pockets over Saurashtra and Kutch while dense fog has been predicted in isolated pockets over Rajasthan and north Madhya Pradesh.
Night temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at most places over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada.
Night temperatures were markedly above normal at few places over Himachal Pradesh, Vidarbha, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, and Jharkhand.

The lowest minimum temperature of 7.8 degrees Celsius was reported at Naliya in Saurashtra and Kutch over the plains of the country.
From 0830 hours Monday to 0830 hours Tuesday, thunderstorm or hailstorm was recorded at isolated places over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, Punjab, Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep.
At 0830 hours today, dense fog was observed in isolated pockets over Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, west Rajasthan and east Uttar Pradesh.
At the same time, the following visibility was recorded at Gulmarg, Kalpa, Barmer and Varanasi-200 meter each.
Today, cold waves swept isolated pockets over Saurashtra and Kutch.
