Heavy showers, thunderstorm in Delhi-NCR

New Delhi, Jan 8 : Several parts of the national capital and adjoining areas witnessed thunderstorms and were battered by continuous rains since early Saturday, improving the air quality.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi recorded 40.6 mm rainfall till 8.30 am.
The minimum temperature was 15.2 degrees Celsius, eight notches above the normal.
The IMD has forecast thunderstorm with moderate to heavy rains over Delhi and adjoining areas of the National Capital Region.
Thunderstorms with light to moderate rains will lash Delhi, Ghaziabad, Noida and Greater Noida, it added.
The showers led to an improvement in the overall air quality index (AQI) at 95 — the ‘satisfactory’ category.
“The air quality is likely to remain in moderate category on Sunday and moderate to poor category on Monday,” said the weather department.
