Himachal landslide death toll rises to 28

Three more bodies were taken out from the debris of the landslide in Kinnaur in Himachal Pradesh, raising the death toll to 28 on Tuesday.

Kinnaur Deputy Commissioner Abid Husain Sadik said rescue operation began at 6 am today. “Three more bodies were recovered from the landslide site,” the DC said.

A Himachal Pradesh Roadways Bus, two cars, one passenger vehicle (Tata Sumo) and one truck got buried under the debris after a massive landslide coupled with shooting stones wreaked havoc at Nigulsari area of Nichar Subdivision in Kinnuar district on August 11.

National Highway (NH-5) has now been cleared for vehicular traffic while three people are still said to be missing.
