HP: Hamirpur reports 20 more nCoV cases

Hamirpur (HP), Sep 12 (UNI) Twenty more people, including two personnel of Bhota police post, were tested positive in the district by Friday late night, a spokesman of the health department said here on Saturday morning.

Earlier too, nine police personnel mainly those managing the traffic police duty were found positive in the district.

The spokesman said that with the detection of twenty more new positive cases, their strength has risen to 728 including 164 active cases. Five persons have lost their lives and now the number of cured persons stood at 559.

He said that those found positive were under quarantine and would be admitted to the Dedicated Covid care centers for treatment and isolation.

One of the senior medical officers working in the local Medical College confirmed on anonymity that the community spreading of the disease had started in the district and time had come when the people should take utmost care to defend them from the virus.

He was pained to say that despite an increase in the number of positive cases in the district, the people have forgotten the wearing of the masks and adopting the social distancing measures as per the government guidelines.

The Medical officer said that buses and taxis were moving over crowded and there was no check on them. Similarly, there was no check on the social distancing means in the markets especially at the shops of the Halwais, vegetable sellers and grocery item sellers.

He warned that if people didn’t follow the government guidelines for countering the COVID-19, it would be difficult to stop it from further spreading and causing more deaths especially to those suffering from heart-related and kidney related diseases.

It’s worth mentioning here that five persons officially had already died of the virus in the district and unofficially this strength was ten as other cases were in the accounts of the places where they had died after they were detected as corona positive.

Meanwhile, the Hamirpur police have issued strict instructions to the people to wear masks and adopt social distancing to keep them away from the COVID-19. This warning has been issued through the Twitter and Facebook pages of the Hamirpur police.
