HP High Court grants conditional bail to Inspector Neeraj after spending 52 days in Jail

Hamirpur (HP), May 16 : The HP High Court has granted conditional bail to the former SHO of Nadaun police station of Hamirpur district after remaining in jail for fifty-two days. The court released him after a surety of Rs 1 lakh and a local surety. According to the bail condition, the accused will cooperate in the investigation of Vigilance and Hamirpur Police. He will not be able to leave the country without permission. Importantly, Inspector Neeraj Rana is accused of taking a bribe of 25,000 rupees from a person doing business of milch animals while being the SHO of Nadaun police station. Inspector Neeraj Rana was in judicial custody since March 14. A case is registered against the accused in various sections in Vigilance and District Police Station. The Vigilance and District Police interrogated the accused several times, but even after three and a half months after the case was registered against the accused, the hands of Vigilance and Police are empty. Neither the case property was recovered as a bribe nor was the mobile phone of the accused found. Only the statement and video footage of the complainant are available with Vigilance. Vigilance DSP Lalman Sharma said Inspector Neeraj Rana has got conditional bail from the High Court. The investigation of the matter will continue. Vigilance had made a plan to catch him red-handed on the complaint on December 21, 2021. At the Labor Chowk of Nadaun city, the complainant handed over a bundle of chemical-laden notes of bribe to the accused, then the Vigilance team proceeded to nab the accused, but the accused escaped while trying to mount the car on the Vigilance team. A few hours later, the accuser’s car was found on the roadside on SeriCulture Road. About 0.84 grams of Chitta was also recovered from the car, as per the Vigilance department
