Hybrid LeT militant and one OGW arrested in Sopore

Srinagar, Aug 23 : Security forces arrested a “hybrid” militant and an overground worker of Lashkar-e-Taiba in Sopore sub district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday evening, police said.
The arrest were made by a joint team of police, Army and CRPF at a joint security checkpoint.
“On the basis of specific information regarding movement of two suspected terrorists, joint parties of Police Rafiabad, 22 Rashtriya Rifles and 92 CRPF set up joint checkpoints at various places. During the checking of vehicles at around 7.30 pm the naka party at Behrampora Seeloo bridge observed a suspecious movement of a vehicle and two persons boarding the vehicle tried to flee from the spot,” a police officer said.
“The party assessed the situation and displayed extreme restraint and fire control in not opening fire. The individuals were tactfully apprehended,” he added.
On carrying out spot interrogation the individuals disclosed that they were tasked to deliver a weapon and a hand grenade at Seelu which was planned to be used for targetted killing, police said.
The two were identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Dar of Dangiwacha Sopore and Sofi Ishaq Ahmad of Amberpora, Tarzoo, Sopore.
” During the search a pistol, a magazine, eight rounds and a hand grenade was recovered from the possession of Muzaffar Dar and a Chinese Hand grenade was recovered from Sofi Ishaq,” police said.
Police has registered a case and investigation is going on.
