I am sorry: Akshay Kumar steps down as brand ambassador of Elaichi

Mumbai, April 21 : Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar on Thursday stepped down as brand ambassador of Elaichi and pledges to donate the ad fees for worthy cause. Taking to Instagram, the 54-year-old actor posted a letter of apology to his fans for signing on as the brand ambassador for a tobacco brand. In the letter, he wrote, “I am sorry. I would like to apologise to you, all my fans and well-wishers. Your reaction over the past few days has deeply affected me. While I have not and will not endorse tobacco, I respect the outpouring of your feelings in light of my association with Vimal Elaichi. With all humility, I step back. He further said that he will donate his entire endorsement fee towards a worthy cause, “I have decided to contribute the entire endorsement fee towards a worthy cause. The brand might continue airing the ads till the legal duration of the contract that is binding upon me, but I promise to be extremely mindful in making my future choices. In return I shall forever continue to ask for your love and wishes. The Vimal Elaichi had recently roped him as a brand ambassador and featured in ads along with actors Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn, who are already ambassadors for the brand. Akshay was recently trolled by fans for his ads as he has previously promoted healthy living and fitness.
