Indian-American Biostatistician brings out the charm of ghazals

Kolkata, Dec 29 : An Indian-American professor at the University of Florida has come out with a modern ghazal album titled Nostalgia, bringing out the charm of a genre known for portraying an extraordinary variety of expression around its central themes of love and separation.

Susmita Datta, a Kolkata-born noted scholar of Biostatistics, has released the album on her official YouTube channel, with the first song ‘Aap Mere Khayalon Mein’ giving poetic expression to both the pain of separation and the beauty of love in spite of the pain.

A salient feature of the album is the collaboration of Indian and US technologies. The songs have been arranged and mixed in India, while the video, audio recording and the final processing of the video have been done by a dedicated crew in the US.

All the songs are being launched as individual music videos from the 52-year old singer’s YouTube channel.

The songs, penned by different poets and set to tune by Rajorshi Seal, would also be available on all leading audio streaming platforms.

“There are more projects in the pipeline. We will release them one after the other from my channel”, said Datta, a student of Acharya Jayanta Bose.
