J&K DGP sanctions merit scholarship for 242 police wards

Srinagar, Oct 25 : Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh on Monday sanctioned a merit scholarship worth Rs 16.11 lakh in favour of 242 wards of serving police personnel of Jammu and Kashmir.
A police spokesman said, encouraging and appreciating the hard work of the wards of Police personnel who have excelled in class 12th annual examination during the academic session 2020-2021, the DGP sanctioned meritorious scholarships of over rupees 16.11 lakh in favour of 242 wards of serving police personnel.
He said Rs 7000 each have been sanctioned in favour of 133 students who have secured more than 90% marks while Rs 60000 each has been sanctioned in favour of 109 students who have secured 80% and above marks in the Annual Examination of class 12th during the same. The amount has been sanctioned out of the Central Police Welfare Fund, he added.
The spokesman said during the current year an amount of Rs 1.44 crore have been sanctioned in favour of 2362 wards of Police personnel who have achieved above 80% marks in the annual examination of class 10th , 12th and graduation for the academic session 2020-21.
He said, Police Headquarters is sanctioning scholarships, rewards, for wards of martyred and serving and retired Police personnel under different schemes to boost their morale.
