JKDFA delegation calls on VC SKUAST-Jammu

A delegation of newly formed Jammu and Kashmir Dairy Farmers Association (JKDFA) called on Prof. J.P. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu for seeking support and guidance of University in solving issues of  dairy farmers of  UT of J&K.

Shri. Jeet Ram Chowdhary, Chairman, JKDFA, Jammu along with Shri. Kulbhushan Khajuria, President, JKFDA, Jammu, Vice-Presidents and other executive members submitted a memorandum and thanked Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST Jammu, Professor J P Sharma for facilitating the purchase of veterinary mobile van of SKUAST Jammu which will help the farmers to get emergency veterinary services at their doorsteps. Shri Sandeep Chib, President, JKDFA, Jammu province, presented the issues faced by dairy farmers and wanted to have technical and expert support from the University. Problems such as repeat breeding in dairy animals, green and dry fodder availability and starting a certificate course in dairy farming, so that dairy entrepreneurs/farmers can update their knowledge/skills.

Prof. J.P. Sharma, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor thanked the delegates of JKDFA for visiting SKUAST-Jammu and seeking support and guidance from the University for the welfare of the farming community. He said that next meeting will be of greater significance with the participation of all the major stakeholders associated with dairying in Jammu and suggested to conduct another meeting in coordination with official of Animal Husbanary department so hat proper policy decisions can be taken up in this regards

Dr. M.S. Bhadwal, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-Jammu suggested onspot solutions to the various problems raised by the deligation during the meeting.
