Justice Amjad Sayeed takes over as CJ of Himachal HC

Shimla, June 23 : Justice Amjad A Sayeed of the Bombay High Court took over as the Chief Justice of the Himachal High Court on Thursday.
HP Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered the oath of office and secrecy to him at 9:30 am at Raj Bhavan, Shimla. Thereafter, he was given a guard of honor in the High Court premises.
Earlier, a Full Court Welcome Address was also organized in the High Court itself.

During the interaction with the media, the Chief Justice said he would try to settle the five-year-old cases expeditiously. On the matters related to the employees, he said whatever is better would be done.

He said the Legal aid is being provided to the people who are unable to spend. People will be made aware about the law.

Justice Amjad A Sayeed is the 27th Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court. Acting on the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium, the Central Government had issued a notification regarding his appointment as the new Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court on June 19.
Born on January 21st , 1961, Amjad A Sayeed graduated in law from Bombay University in the year 1984. He was also an Assistant Public Prosecutor in the Bombay High Court.
On May 25, outgoing Chief Justice Mohammad Rafiq retired on the attainment of 62 years of age.
After that Justice Sabina was appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court.
