Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jammu working under the able leadership of Professor J. P. Sharma, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu and guidance of Dr. S. K. Gupta, Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu, successfully conducted a one-day In-service training programme on “Quality seed production in field crops”

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jammu working under the able leadership of Professor J. P. Sharma, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu and guidance of Dr. S. K. Gupta, Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu, successfully conducted a one-day In-service training programme on “Quality seed production in field crops” at KVK Jammu for the Extension Officers from Department of Agriculture.  At the outset Dr. Punit Choudhary, Sr. Scientist and Head, KVK Jammu welcomed the participants in to the programme. He also said that this training is organized to refresh the knowledge of officers of agriculture department on the production of quality seed. The programme was also attended by some progressive farmers from Marh zone. During the programme all the topics related to field crops were covered. At the start of the training programme Pre assessment test was conducted for all the participants.  

Dr. Vishal Raina, Junior Scientist, Mega Seed Project, SKUAST-Jammu delivered lecture on importance of Seed processing for quality seed in field crops. During the programme two online lectures on Zoom Platform were also arranged and were delieverd by Dr. Anil Khokhar, Asstt. Professor, RCC Ballowal Saunkhri, Punjab Agriculture University on the topic Weed management in field crops and Dr. Rajeew Shukla, Associate professor, Agronomy, GBPAUT, Pant Nagar delivered lecture on application of Nanofertilizers for quality seed production. Dr. Amitesh Sharma, Scientist Plant breeding, KVK Jammu delivered lecture on Quality seed production in field crops with reference to Basmati Rice through organic management. Dr. Muneeshwar Sharma, Scientist Plant Protection, KVK Jammu delivered lecture on Management of seed borne diseases for quality seed production in field crops for the quality seed production. At the end post evaluation test was conducted to analyse the impact of training programme. The participants were very keen and satisfied for organisation of the programme by KVK Jammu. The participants give Dr. Amitesh Sharma, coordinator of the training programme presented a formal vote of thanks at the end.
