LG condoles loss of lives in Kishtwar cloudburst, says rescue operation on

Srinagar, Jul 28 : Expressing grief over the deaths due to flashfloods triggered by cloudburst in a village in Jammu’s Kishtwar district, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday said that the operation to rescue and trace missing persons was going on a war-footing.
While four bodies were recovered, several people are missing after a cloudburst triggered flash floods on Wednesday morning in remote village Honjar of Dachhan in Kishtwar.
“Saddened over loss of precious lives due to flash floods caused by cloud burst in Dacchan, Kishtwar. My thoughts are with bereaved families,” Mr Sinha wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
The LG said that he has spoken to senior authorities and district administration. “Army and SDRF team working on war footing to rescue people and trace the missing persons,” he said.
“I am continuously monitoring the situation,” he added.
Meanwhile, a Met department official said that widespread intermittent rain will most likely continue till July 30 and heavy rain is also possible at some places. “It may lead to flash flood, mudslide, landslide and water logging (low lying areas).
