Marriage ceremony turns gloom as two electrocuted in Palamu

Daltonganj, Dec 2 (UNI) Buzz around a marriage ceremony turned into gloom as two members of the Baraat party died on Wednesday after coming in contact with high tension wire under Manatu Police Station area of the Palamu district.
Police said that members of a baraat party from Parsawan village of Tarhasi Police Station area were going to Imamganj of Chatra district. Some of the people were sitting on the rooftop of the vehicle, as soon as the vehicle reached at Jamua bridge on the Manatu-Imamganj road two men identified as Munarik Mahto (55) and Shankar Kumar (32) came in contact with high tension wire and got electrocuted. While Mahto died on the spot, Shankar Kumar succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to RIMC Ranchi.
Police said that while Mahto was the uncle of the groom, Shankar was his brother-in-law. Some other people have also sustained injuries and have been admitted at the hospital. Upon receiving information Manatu police station officer-in-charge Santosh Kumar Singh reached on the spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
