Meghalaya CM inaugurates facilitation Centre at Mendipathar

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday inaugurated the Mendipathar Facilitation Centre at Mendipathar Railway Station in North Garo Hills district.
Inaugurating the centre, Sangma said that the facilitation centre will keep record of visitors to Garo Hills region and will enable the district administration to effectively monitor flow of visitors from
outside the region.
Speaking at length on the importance of rail connectivity, the Chief Minister said that the presence
of a railhead at Mendipathar is a boon for the people of the region as this will continue to facilitate
the movement of people and goods from the region to the adjoining State of Assam.
The Chief Minister said that train connectivity has proved advantageous to the farming community
of the region as it facilitates easy and cheap transportation and allowed them to access better
markets.
Sangma also took the opportunity to enlighten people that the largest food park in the State is
being set up at the Mendipathar Industrial Area.
He said that since Mendipathar already has a rail link, the State Government is setting up the
Rs 100 crore food park in Mendipathar.
The Chief Minister also informed that the biggest feed mill of Northeast is also being set up here.
The Chief Minister further added that Mendipathar has become the preferred destination for investment because it has all the necessary infrastructure and the facilities, particularly rail
connectivity.
