MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary welcomes first Oxygen Express at Phillaur railway station

Phillaur, May 17 (UNI) Member of Parliament Santokh Singh Chaudhary welcomed the first Oxygen Express to reach Punjab at Phillaur railway station here on Monday. He was accompanied by Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori.

The train carried 40 metric tonnes of oxygen from Bokaro, Jharkhand. So far, the Government of Punjab was airlifting liquid medical oxygen (LMO) from different parts of the country. A total of 59 tankers containing 804.26 MT oxygen have been brought in the state in 30 sorties.

Speaking on the occasion, MP Chaudhary said that the latest arrival of 40 MT of oxygen would provide relief in cities of Jalandhar, Amritsar, Pathankot and Hoshiarpur. “20 MT would be provided to Jalandhar, 10 MT to Amritsar, while Hoshiarpur and Pathankot would receive 5 MT of oxygen each,” he informed.

The Lok Sabha MP stated that Captain Amarinder Singh led government is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that there’s no shortage of oxygen and lifesaving resources in the state, adding that the Congress government is buying oxygen at its own cost.
