Nitish exhorts students to study with zeal to contribute in development of Bihar

Patna, May 26 : Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday exhorted the students to study properly with great zeal and motivation to play their vital roles in the development of Bihar.
Kumar while addressing a function through video conferencing to mark the inauguration of 17 buildings of the Science and Technology department, including 8 engineering colleges, said that his government had decided to establish engineering colleges and polytechnic colleges in all districts of Bihar to improve technical education facilities for students of the state.
His government was committed to take all required steps to encourage students for higher education, he added.
” Students should study properly with great zeal and motivation so that they could play vital role in the development of Bihar”, Chief Minister said, adding that teachers should also discharge their duties of teaching with responsibility and sincerity. Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) in higher education in Bihar was only 13.9 per cent when his government was worked to power in the state, he added.
” A large number of students were shifting to other parts of the country for higher studies”, Kumar said, adding that his government had decided to improve infrastructural facilities and also take steps for setting up good institutions in the state. Several good institutes of quality education had come up in Bihar during the regime of his government, he added.
” Following our efforts, Bihar College of Engineering in Patna had been upgraded into National Institute of Technology”, Chief Minister said adding that the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) was also established in Patna and the state government had provided 500 acres of land for the purpose. Similarly, the state government using its own resources had constructed a building in Patna for setting up a branch of BIT Mesra.
