One Week Refresher Training Programme for Field Vets concludes at SKUAST-Jammu

Under the able guidance and leadership of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, Prof. J.P. Sharma, a one week refresher course for Field Vets of Animal Husbandry Department, Jammu on the topic “Updates on management of reproductive disorders in farm and pet animals” w.e.f. February 1-9, 2022 organised by Division of Veterinary Gynaecology & Obstetrics in collaboration with Animal Husbandry Department, Jammu funded under National Livestock Mission to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav concludes at Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, R. S Pura, SKUAST-Jammu.

During the valedictory session of the programme Chief Guest, Dr. M.S. Bhadwal, Dean, F.V.Sc & A.H. R.S. Pura expressed his happiness and contentment on the positive feedback of the participants and was also pleased with the efforts of the Course Director and his team. He, further appreciated the efforts of the organizing team for updating the participants’ knowledge by holding practical demonstrations of various gynaecological and obstetrical techniques during the training programme and further emphasized that such programmes should be regularly be held for ultimate benefit of the farming as well as animal rearing community of the UT of J&K.

At the outset, Dr. Utsav Sharma, Prof.  & Head, Veterinary Gynaecology & Obstetrics cum Course Director, gave a welcome note in the honour of the Chief Guest and briefed him about the details of the various technical sessions. He, further added that he along with his scientific team made every possible efforts to transfer the latest updates of various technologies of the gynaecology & obstetrics field to the field vets who came from different parts of the Jammu province to attend the training programme. Dr. Sharma said that since the commencement of the inaugural session of the training programme on February 1, 2022, various gynaecological & obstetrical problems were discussed among the scientists and field vets and to overcome these issues, a series of lectures and practical demonstrations were delivered by the scientists of the veterinary gynaecology to the field vets so that they could in turn apply the techniques for the best possible treatment of the animals and ultimately for the welfare the farmers. Various gynaecological & obstetrical problems which were discussed during the training programme were, Mismating, Canine Pyometra, Diagnostic use of Ultra Sono Graphy (USG) in large and small animals, Induction of parturition, Management of Uterine Torsion, Various methods for diagnosis of Endometritis in Bovine, etc.

            During the valedictory function, a compendium was also released and given to the participants as well as course completion certificate distributed among the trainees. All the HoDs of F,V,Sc & A.H, and divisional staffs were present during the occasion. Proceedings of the programme and vote of thanks was extended by Dr. Anil Kumar Pandey, Asstt. Prof, VGO.
