Parks, zoos to remain shut from Dec 31 to Jan 2

Patna, Dec 29 : The Coronavirus has dampened the enthusiasm of new year lovers as the Bihar government has ordered the closure of all parks and zoos in the state from December 31 to January 2 because of the sudden rise in the number of Corona-positive cases in recent days.

A meeting of high-level Crisis Management Group (CMG) led by Chief Secretary Tripurari Sharan decided to close all parks and zoos in the state late last night.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar requested a meeting to review the situation following a sudden spike in Corona positive cases in Bihar over the past few days.

All favourite hot spots of new year celebrations will remain closed, including Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park and Patna Zoo, the Eco Park and Zoo Safari in Rajgir.

The CMG has also asked organisers of social, political,

cultural, education, sports, entertainment and religious events to ensure strict adherence to Covid appropriate behaviour.

In the last few days, Bihar has seen an increase in Corona positive cases. The state witnessed 47 fresh Corona positive cases in last 24 hours.

On Tuesday, one person died due to Corona infection, bringing the total death toll from the pandemic to 12,096 since March 2017. As of Tuesday, there were 155 active Corona positive cases in the state.

The total Corona positive cases in the state have also increased to 7,26,528.

However, 7,14,277 people have also recovered from the illness due to Corona infection so far in the state.
