Jammu, May 28 (UNI) A chemical factory was gutted in a devastating fire broke out in industrial area at Battal Ballian in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir. “The fire incident took place in a pesticide factory in Battal Industrial Estates around midnight,” police here said.
They said that police and teams of fire and emergency services rushed to the spot on receiving the information. “Total seven fire tenders were pressed into service and the fire was doused at around 0430 hours,” they said.
However, Indian Air Force was also requisitioned for putting off the fire and smoke to avoid pollution to the nearby population. “The fire was timely controlled with swift action by different teams,” Indu Chib, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur here said.
She added that no injury was reported in the incident but the residue chemicals are giving out smoke.
