Quick Response Team (QRT) of SKUAST-Jammu visited Goupar Basti area of R.S.Pura

A quick response team led by Dr. R.K.Bhardwaj, Associate Professor, Division of Veterinary Medicine along with PG scholars and Interns under the able guidance of Dr. Rajiv Singh, Professor & Head, Veterinary Medicine visited Goupar basti area of R.S.Pura for examination of animals suffering from skin disease as reported by Sarpanch of the area. Team examined animals from different household for skin disease. Affected animals had signs of fever, lameness, weakness, decreased milk yield and eruption of round raised nodules of various diameters on the skin all over the body.

As reported by Sh. Kuldeep, Panch of the village,  more than 500 cattle and buffaloes and more than 50 per cent were affected. Team also found either all or 2-3 animals were affected in each household with more severity in H.F and crossbred animals as compared to buffaloes. Team briefed farmers about the skin disease and prescribed treatment for the affected animals and advised preventive measures to control the spread of skin disease to other animals.
