Rifle snatched in 2016 recovered from slain militants in Pulwama

Srinagar, Jul 2 (UNI) A Self Loading Rifle (SLR) snatched by ultras from an Indian Reserve Police (IRP) guard on Srinagar-Jammu national highway in 2016 was recovered from Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants killed in an encounter by security forces in south Kashmir district of Pulwama on Friday.
A police spokesman said tonight that one SLR bearing number 16047232 was snatched by militants from a guard of TV tower at Lower Munda on the highway in the year 2016.
He said a case vide FIR number 135/2016 was registered in police station Duroo in Anantnag. The rifle was recovered from the slain militants, he added.
Five LeT militants, including a commander, were killed in the encounter by security forces in Pulwama today. A soldier also lost his life and another was wounded in the encounter.
