Singapore investors are ready to invest in UP: High Commissioner

Lucknow, Sep 23 : Singapore High Commissioner Simon Wong has said that there is a favorable environment for investment in Uttar Pradesh and a large number of Singapore investors are willing to invest in different projects of UP including in the Defence Corridor and MSME sector.
Mr Wong expressed these views during his meeting with Chief Secretary Rajendra Kumar Tiwari here on Thursday.
Mr Tiwari said that due to the development of infrastructure facilities in Uttar Pradesh, it is being successful in attracting investors from all over the world. “Uttar Pradesh is providing investor-friendly and fear-free environment. Besides, 21 new investment-friendly policies have been implemented in the state,” the Chief Secretary said.
He said new expressways, including Purvanchal Expressway, Bundelkhand Expressway, Gorakhpur Link Expressway, Ballia Link Expressway, and Ganga Expressway are being developed making commutation by roads easy and safe. Similarly, Tehsil Headquarters and block Headquarters are being connected by two-lane roadways. While the roads from the state headquarters to the district headquarters are four-laned roads.
“Many airports are being developed with the aim of increasing air connectivity. An international airport is being constructed in Kushinagar which will facilitate the movement of Buddhist followers living in the country and abroad. Defense corridors are being developed in the state at Aligarh, Agra, Lucknow, Jhansi, Chitrakoot, and Kanpur,” he said.
Singapore High Commissioner Simon Wong said that the trade relations between Singapore and India are very strong. There is a favorable environment for investment in Uttar Pradesh and the logistics points here have been developed in a very systematic manner.
“Due to being the most religious place in Uttar Pradesh, a large number of devotees from all over the country and abroad come here,” Wong said.
He said that Singapore investors are willing to invest in setting up of Bundelkhand Defense Corridor, MSME, Logistics, Integrated Township, and Data Center in Uttar Pradesh. Apart from this, investors want to invest in the area of skill centers in Varanasi.
On this occasion, the Chief Secretary presented ODOP products to the delegation led by the High Commissioner and Wong presented a book to the Chief Secretary. Additional Chief Secretary, Infrastructure and Industrial Development Arvind Kumar and Special Secretary Industrial Development Muthu Swamy were also present on the occasion.
