In a program to benefit farmers from Schedule Caste community under Schedule Caste Sub Plan for Paddy of Jammu, Division of Plant Breeding and Genetics, SKUAST-Jammu organizes a input distribution programme under the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nazir Ahmed Ganaie. Director Research Dr R.K. Samnotra was the Chief Guest of the event and while interacting with farmers, he impressed upon the farmers to use the inputs distributed with proper methodology and with the perfection so as to get the desired benefits. Prof and Head, Plant Breeding Dr. Tuhina Dey in her remarks provided valuable suggestions to the farmers regarding use of technologies. Dr. Anuradha Saha, Chief Scientist and Incharge, AICRIP (Rice) and Schedule Caste Sub Plan for Paddy presented a detailed outline of this project funded by Indian Institute of Rice Research (ICAR), Hyderabad. About 200 Schedule Caste farmers selected from villages Kallas Kullian of Tehsil R.S.Pura , New Plot of Tehsil Bishnah and Karyal Khurd of Tehsil Arnia got different items as a kit viz. a manual operated knapsack sprayer, a pair of gum shoe, 500 ml bottle of Nano urea and 100 ml of bispyribac sodium and each farmer got this benefit from the scheme. Farmer namely, Naresh Kumar Naib Sarpanch, Karyal Khurd presented his views and expressed gratitude to the government, university and ICAR for the benefits provided to the Schedule Caste farmers. Other Chief Scientists of Plant Breeding and Genetics Division and AICRP (Rice) namely Dr R. S. Sudan, Dr. V.B. Singh, Dr. Praveen Singh, Dr. S.K. Rai, Dr. M.K. Pandey, Dr.Bhupesh Kumar and Dr. Subash Chander also participated in the programme. Dr. Rajan Salalia, Chief Scientist presented vote of thanks. Dr. Vijay Bharti, Professor (Agronomy) of Water Management Research Centre compered and hosted the programme.
