Sumitra Mahajan recuperating well; Shifted to general ward

New Delhi, Apr 23 (UNI) Former Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan, who was admitted to Bombay Hospital in Indore on Wednesday after she had developed mild fever, was shifted to General Ward after she was tested negative for the Novel Coronavirus on Thursday.

Her former spokesperson Pankaj Kshirsagar told Univarta over the phone that Ms Mahajan is recuperating well and she would be discharged from the hospital in the next two to three days.

According to sources, she was admitted to the hospital after she had mild fever. After her fever had subsided, she was shifted to the General Ward.

Late Thursday night, Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor had mistakenly announced the passing away of Sumitra Mahajan on Twitter. Later, Mr Tharoor retracted his tweet and issued an apology.

“I am relieved if that is so. Happy to retract & appalled that anyone would make up such news,” Mr Tharoor tweeted.

BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya also took to Twitter to inform that Mahajan was perfectly healthy.

Mr Tharoor, who is in quarantine after testing positive for COVID, thanked Mr Vijayvargiya for sharing the information on Mahajan’s health. The Congress leader also wished Mahajan a healthy and long life.
