Telangana registers 2,478 fresh COVID-19 cases, five fatalities

Continuing record COVID-19 surge, Telangana registered 2,478 fresh coronavirus cases until 2000 hrs on Thursday to increase the state’s tally to 3,21,192 till date.

The state recorded five fresh fatalities due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours taking the death toll so far to 1,746 translating a case fatality rate of 0.54 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.3 per cent, according to a state health department bulletin.

A total of 363 people have recuperated from coronavirus statewide in the past 24 hours to push the cumulative number of recoveries thus far to 3,03,964 constituting a recovery rate of 94.63 per cent while the national recovery rate was 91.2 per cent.

The active cases in the state presently stand at 15,472, including 9,674 individuals in home or institutional isolation, the bulletin said.

In all,1,01,986 samples were tested in the state between Wednesday and Thursday to detect the contagious virus out of which the results of 3,907 swab samples are awaited.

Cumulatively, more than one crore seven lakh COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state so far since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
