Telangana reports 474 fresh COVID infections, three fatalities

Hyderabad, Dec 30 (UNI) With 474 fresh COVID-19 cases reported till 2000 hours on Tuesday, the total number of coronavirus infections in Telangana reached 2,85,539 so far.

Besides, three more patients also lost their lives to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, pushing the overall fatalities to 1,538 till date translating a case fatality rate of 0.53 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.4 per cent, a state health department bulletin said on Wednesday.

Statewide 592 people have recovered from coronavirus between Monday and Tuesday, taking the total recoveries as on date to 2,78,523 thus far constituting a recovery rate of 97.40 per cent while the national recovery rate was 96 per cent.

Currently, the state has 5,876 active cases including 3,735 individuals in home or institutional isolation, the bulletin said. Of the 45,590 samples tested to detect the contagious virus in the state during the last 24 hours, the results of 775 swab samples were awaited.

Since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, 68,39,281 COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state so far. Among the districts, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation contributed a maximum of 102 coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, followed by Rangareddy (49) Medchal Malkajgiri (45), Karimnagar (29), Warangal Urban (25), Bhadradri Kothagudem (18), Mancherial, Sangareddy and Siddipet 14 cases each.

The remaining coronavirus cases of the day were reported by other districts, the bulletin added.
