UP govt allots Rs 7689 crore for Ganga expressway

Lucknow, Feb 22 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government has given ample focus to the expressway in the budget and a provision of Rs 7200 crore has been made for the country’s longest Ganga Expressway for land acquisition. Another Rs 489 crore has been allocated for its construction work.
This expressway will connect Meerut with Prayagraj. Apart from this, it will also connect Hapur, Buland Shahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Sahajanahpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, and Pratapgarh. In future, this six-lane expressway will be extended to eight lanes.
The budget, tabled on Monday in the assembly, also has a provision of Rs 1107 crore for the Purvancal expressway, Rs 860 crore for Gorakhpur link expressway and Rs 1492 crore for the Bundelkhand expressway.
An allocation of Rs 2000 crore has been made to increase the runways of Asia’s largest Noida International Greenfield Airport from two to six. A provision of Rs 101 crore has been made in the budget for the under-construction Maryada Purushotam Sriram Airport in Ayodhya.
It is to be mentioned the number of active airports has increased from 4 to 7 under the Yogi government.
A provision of Rs 597 crore and Rs 478 crore has been made for Kanpur and Agra Metro respectively. A provision of Rs 100 crore has been made for Varanasi, Gorakhpur and other Metro projects of other districts.
In addition, a provision of Rs 1,326 crore has been made for the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Rapid Road Transport System.
