VP, PM salute Jayaprakash Narayan on his 118 birth anniversary

New Delhi, Oct 11 (UNI) Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid their tribute to Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan on his 118th birth anniversary.

The Vice-President paying his tributes to JP, described him as a “freedom fighter and one of the tallest leaders of India”. “His crusade to protect democracy & fight corruption have left an indelible imprint on the minds of people,” Mr Naidu tweeted.

“His call to the youth to fight against injustice & atrocities had inspired me to join public life when I was a student leader,” Mr Naidu added.

Mr Modi, in his tweet, said, “I bow to Loknayak JP on his Jayanti. He valiantly fought for India’s freedom and when our democratic ethos was under attack, he led a strong mass movement to protect it. For him, there was nothing above national interest and people’s welfare.”
